BOB CLARKSON

GOLF COURSE CONSTRUCTION

Bob has a very strong background in golf course construction that encompasses a variety of geographical sites.  He has overseen the construction of golf courses in Florida,  Arizona, Colorado, and Montana, completing a total of five new courses.  Each project was delivered on time and with exemplary conditions.  His experiences have given him the opportunity to work with Dye, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Nicklaus, and Weiskopf.

TPC SAWGRASS

  • Located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, at the PGA Tour Headquarters.

  • The Dye’s Valley Course was designed by Pete Dye with player Jerry Pate.

  • Construction and grow-in of the TPC Valley Course began in January, 1987 and opened in October, 1987.  The Senior Players Championship was played on the course in May, 1988.

  • Golf course was grown in from sprigs with 419 bermudagrass in the fairways, tees, and rough and tifdwarf bermudagrass on the greens.

  • TPC Stadium Course construction involved greens rebuild and a change from pushup greens to USGA specification greens of tifdwarf bermudagrass.

  • Construction involvement with several spectator mounds.

  • Irrigation and drainage renovations projects were completed.

  • Practice range tee reconstruction.

RAVEN AT SABINO SPRINGS

  • Located in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains of Tucson, Arizona, this Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design began construction in 1995.

  • Oversaw construction and grow-in in a very environmentally sensitive desert site.

  • Grew in SR1020 bentgrass greens from seed and fairways, tees, and rough with 419 bermudagrass sprigs.

  • Construction began January 1995 and golf course opened in November, 1995.
